About the event
Tanha Pola is a unique festival that originated in Nagpur and was initiated by Shrimant Raghuji II of the Nagpurkar Bhosale kingdom. In Tanha Pola the name “tanha" signifies ‘small' here in Marathi.
This festival holds a special place. The festival's aim was to cultivate awareness of agriculture and instill gratitude toward animals among young children. During Tanha Pola, children are encouraged to learn about the vital role of agriculture be aware about it, while appreciating the essential contribution of animals in agriculture. In it the kids are seen with the wooden miniatures of the Bull, decorated and taking them to the households in vicinity.
