About the event

The pride of Vidarbha ‘the Karvat Kathi Saree’ a pure Tussar silk saree, weaved by the Koshti weavers on pit looms in Vidarbha region is unique for its ‘Karvat Kath’ i.e. the saw tooth border. What is unique about the silk used in Karvati sarees is that it is exclusive to this specific region that is rich in high quality silk cocoons, straight from the wild.

The two villages Andhalgaon and Mohadi situated in the Bhandara district are one of the last where this vanishing craft of handloom is still practiced at various clusters of weavers who have preserved this craft for generations which we shall be experiencing & seeing.

This is a day long tour, curated specially for conscious travelers and handloom textile lovers which shall also include visit to a magnificently beautiful Pande Mahal in Bhandara, dialogues with the weavers, unfolding the stories of sourcing and complete processing of weaving; right from the making of silk from cocoon.

As Bhandara is the land of rice, we have included a visit to the rice mill along with the yummy local Lunch which shall include rice dishes. We shall enjoy our evening at the Rawanwadi dam!

Join us for an unforgettable adventure through the threads of history!
